Why Become An Automotive Technician?

Why Become An Automotive Technician?

all right now that we got all the kinks and bugs worked out little unusual for this kind of event usually everything goes really well with the material so it must be a busy night tonight I guess first of all for anyone who is watching on the YouTube channel this is where you can comment in this comment section on the upper right is edit your comments questions your two cents if you will on the side there I admire technical editor moderation magazine here to talk about why becoming automotive tech and joining me are four individuals who may be able to offer an insight into that I do spend momentarily but just give me some background and put this into context where this really started off with was talking about the skills gap that some have called it that we have our country today I think for me and a lot of others comment made by the guy from during job micro kind of stood out as a real eye-opener and let me see if I can get that right paraphrase it he said that we’re spending a lot of money teaching kids who can’t pay it back jobs and skills that there aren’t any jobs out there for them to take but on the trades like ours there are nearly 3 million positions that pay decent you can make a living take care of your family at it but then the question comes up again you know why our field would you personally recommend to your kids to join our industry if so why and that came forth by one gentleman here on on our panel tonight I think we’ll go ahead and I’ll bring him up and we can start with him I will put Matt there on the spot Matt how are you tonight good good you know Matt kind of bucked it for at the point you know again there are a lot of things affecting our industry that impacted a person’s choice to get involved and he thought that’d be a good idea to talk to some of the guys to represent text still in order to kind of lay the field for that everybody know that we are indeed representative of the okay so you actually have the formal training in the automotive tech program and how long have you been in the business and I guess it should be fair to say leeway no to that not only are you involved you know in the repair shop is a diagnostic tech but you also do some training you know you’re quite the guy I would say the three before that yeah but bottom line is bottom line is you get up in the morning you go in the board are gonna shop to fix cars yeah yeah and I think that’s a valid point I want to come back to that also joining us tonight let’s bring up the first guy in my line here and tell us how long have you been involved I was an understudy or apprentice now you mean now that’s like to kind of hit on there you talked about you you’ve got on your own you have to get and go so where are you getting your training now horses horses networks yeah so you’re you’re it’s continuing education process for you daily basis yeah yeah yeah excellent next year let’s go to to Travis I mean pulling him up Travis how are you doing tonight oh good again for all you guys are really pretty taking the time to hang out this evening and kind of tackle this topic Travis I’m a little bit of your background in the industry for those who are watching I’m currently in Wichita Kansas diagnostics and programming support for about 230 repair shops in the metro area try to keep mom-and-pop in business and I started off about 15 working in a local parts store in parts our dealerships chain stores since and no Adam is also embarking on a mobile deck we’re that that seems to be a new new kind of a niche niche that right in the in this business that a lot of guys were pursuing I think for good reason to absolutely it almost works what we’re trying to accomplish alright well do introduce our last panel number here like as we know Ryan from his work as a trainer with standard motor products but he’s got quite a technical background himself so Ryan tell us a little bit about your background the online business not too much different than the other guys repeat or know my dad was a heavy can’t grown up and kids were playing basketball sports I was a guy build go-karts out of tractors and making them go fast and do stuff like that like any good son my dad said yeah go to college get a real job don’t be fixing stuff early and so like a good kid I did the exact opposite of what he told me to do and it dropped out of college and started fixing cars for a living oh yeah it’s just one of those things I could never get away from I started 1982 we’re gonna shop I was high school and just really going back there started school for engineering latest creation but I loved what I’m learning and doing in the shop guy like Matt just picked up first scan tool I have the old tech 1a and a PC monitor I think is a 4,000 at that time and really grew from there currently okay 18 different scan tools I think five different scopes just you know really grew from from where I started a workshop close by me here in West Michigan 20 bait shop did similar to what Matt’s doing diagnosing vehicles managing the rest of guys in shop from there I started with standard motor products in 2010 working training material as a developer and must be able some very good things they promote me to manager about a year later and I was be good at that either and last week is named national director of training Wow first of our training department and our professional training seminars we do my my group of guys I chaired conducting 1800 seminars this year at wall ma busy lunch during that knowledge with you yeah well I can’t we all have kind of the same background just for those who who only know me for my role of motor age and spent oxc 3035 years you know working on cars under the hood never bow shot never had the tolerance for that firm life in the back and just dealing with the cars and I for me and maybe you guys can chime in the whole reason that I came back even after trying a few other things you oughta see if the grass is greener do that 35-year period always in the back in the automotive business I guess now for me personally it was the challenge of fixing something that maybe somebody else couldn’t fix I’ll be the first to tell you I am NOT a big car guy you know but I couldn’t tell you you know all these different I couldn’t pick out one 50s model from another or you know what’s the fastest European sports car built or any of the kind of trivia stuff that a lot of guys are into not medium more to build when it comes to that but actually fixing them working on them the the challenge of writing to that whatever the problem might have been and overcoming that challenge that always left me with the feeling of accomplishment okay I can sit back and say hey I made that happen so for you guys what’s your motivation for being at an automotive tech what keeps you involved in the business yeah but I mean that was it was made it jet let’s talk about that you know one of the things facing our industry meanwhile guys are like me nearly getting old you know they’re aging out and I’m gonna be the first one in it that you know I fold both my boys when they were coming up that you know if you think about getting involved in this business I’ll kill you you know you know go to school do something is not good put the beating on you like this business can do there’s a lot a lot of technical trades or other fields that a smart guy can make a lot more money in you know so yeah I mean like you might but there are ways you can make that happen right so yeah and Travis I got to think that you’re probably kind of a similar cloth I mean this is what you do every day buddy this basically everybody needs us and not everybody can do it yeah and I think that’s probably maybe that’s the where we’re at in our industry you know that is the idea of being sure technicians or having an industry shortage they’ve been talking about that forever you know that’s always been on the topic of conversation but dining Seaford recently wrote an article love I think hit a nerve and this guy’s like you guys that are short I don’t think it is any shortage of bodies to do the physical border but I think there’s gonna be a growing demand for you know men and women like yourselves that have the ability to take a vehicle that’s not quite right and and make it right and I think one of the things that for those who are watching I want to stress you all have I have in common is that you all treat this industry and you’re your role in it as one that requires continuous ongoing education right and that’s the heart of your business now so as a tech and that was the National Director training that’s like a mouthful everybody what do you see when you’re out in the field what do you see is the need for that kind of information I think you really hit the nail had there’s a need for guys first off the type of passion I think all of us have that – those are getting paid to be here great hug doing this and I see how all of us have met many different conferences across the country that we went on our own thing in our time as well and so I was because I that passion we want to succeed and be the best in their history really 18 I think all of us on this call here who we are today and daily and confronted by shop owners saying you know of any good text and I turn around talked explicitly the only good jobs and insulin there’s not a lack of shaft a length of technicians per se but there’s a lack of good chaps that I would feel good about recommending a guy to in when I say good shop it’s a shop owner that cares about its people may invest in training maybe that’s the proper tooling and cares about it as a person on top of it and then same thing of the technicians a guy that’s self-motivated why I left the shop three years ago I created Rob before I left because I updated all the team tools I updated the equipment I had five different laptops there when I left that created huge hole it just wasn’t another guy that could come in I’m not trying to mail or you know but there was nobody else with their own personal time coming in later and Saturday morning to update all the equipment like that stuff yeah for me and all those guys here it’s a path I still go out and do a lot of that kind of stuff just some enough public you know I want to follow away from what’s really active out there in the street but that it becomes more and more of a time investment these guys Oprah have six ten different software and continuous subscriptions and stuff like that they’re painful yeah yeah they seem a tear in the background he’s like really shaking his head up yes yes yes as you’re talking so I’m sure he has some some good comments to add along that same line again here you are you know working in the shop you probably get all the tough time or even all the diagnostics for that matter and if invested I know by senior Polly you know here on online quite an investment of your home and making that happen yeah really that’s something that we should expect our guys to do what are you doing but you do it right you do it why do you do it I like to be able to do stuff otherwise but right so you take them professionalism I mean just really to heart most are the guys it’s a pride thing I mean I can’t do that you’re gonna go see this guy that’s probably the underlying issue that drives all of us as well as the personal pride and investment eeeek women in knowledge I don’t remember when I started the first job candidate dr. Mandela did the buck stops here there’s nobody behind me to pass this to me before when I wasn’t working at a shop if I couldn’t get a bulb out or you know need something I can understand how to do you always go to a shop and having a professional here when I started the shop in 92 I’m that guy all this thing there’s nobody else for me to pass this to yeah reality there probably is other shops or the dealership or whatever there’s some people – in mold there wasn’t a mobile guy to call at that point and oh and Travis won’t drive to Michigan for Kansas anyways some stuck but but you know that was the mentality I personally had without and I think this was a while I was done as well well and that’s it I was this year off perfect world is working on it yeah I wasn’t trying to stay steered on the same topic here I’ve always said to UM folks here in the past couple years then when we start talking about various issues in our industry you guys remember that game pick up sticks you know where you drop the stick sticks on the on the table and you had to pick one up without touching anything else that’s kind of like where we are I think now in our industry you you can’t adjust one area without addressing several others so I’m going to just back up a step here the skills gap the ability to attract new talent to our industry especially in competition with other trades there that are looking for the same folks and again it’s for the guys and gals like you guys who have that drive to be the best they can be even if it requires a personal investment above and beyond what many would consider normal I mean I lash up my work debt and its peak we had like 40 50 guys working 24/7 none of them we’re doing anywhere near what you guys are doing you know it wasn’t gonna be a gravy flat rate real quick catch in my pocket it was sentence in the dealer give it to P you know which I didn’t mind but I’m not like I’m not only caliber you guys I mean I so the stuff I had to fight to fix and I’d like to say I can do it all in under an hour but that wasn’t always true sometimes it took a lot longer than that but I think one of the big things that goes along with this growing need for guys like you is also growing disparity and what guys like you are worth and what guys like you are able to command in the marketplace if you’ve gone out on your home like Travis has and Adams working on doing and you in your garden is a mobile tech that certainly you can command your own weight but like when I was in the shop Matt you’re still working in the shop I think maybe you have a bracelet with you reporter I don’t know I’m gonna put you on the spot for that but I know that in my shop is flat rate we had a tough diagnostic job if I got just the time that I fit actually spent then I was doing good so that wasn’t a real moneymaker again it was the Friday Mabel will fix what came in and a new system it always resulted in losing yeah and and that’s where we’re combative right with with the flat rate system well there are a lot of shops who got it you know I’m sure Ryan you’re trouble I mean with your from the country you know you’ve met some of these shop owners I know when we go to vision we tend to see that exceptional group but when you look at the total attendance of something like vision it’s not a large percentage of the total stops in the marketplace right but last night I was teaching a class in a different state and there’s 60 guys of the tenants and but there’s one shop owner in there and the name of the shop was less than professional I was leave it at that and the shop owner himself had obviously been hitting the bar before he came into the class and now he’s got five guys working for him suffering from that as well yeah that’s uh that’s paint yeah a lot of us have been blessed with good shop owners and bad shop owners the last shop I work at and still great friends for the owner and go out for lunch with them at least once or twice a week and just just really great guy but if you in farming communities you meant let’s back up a little bit like what Travis was to him there in the dealership world or a 1000 the flat rate system it rewards the the Lord acts like the great guy or the front end guy they can slap hobbit work and sell a lot of Labor right the more you learn the higher you go up on the skill yeah they might do to buck or two or more but the time is up there so that’s that’s one of the basic issue that very industry faces right now is rewarding because in tech yeah and to play devil’s advocate I get it from a business standpoint you know I’ve worked at a Chrysler dealership some years ago and I remember Chrysler actually telling their the or Network back then if you’ve got 14 days you need 14 mechanics your week if you don’t have to work that’s fine you’re paying a flat rate so there’s no work to do is no skin off your nose no but if you do hit a peak you need that capacity and I think a lot of business owners shop owners look at it that way where inventory you know we’re not necessarily partners on business where we’re inventory our hours aren’t our billable labor is inventory that they had to sell so you know that’s one area shop owners are you listening you know if you want guys like the guys that you’re seeing on this panel tonight that can make sure your customers cars are fixed and fixed right the first time you know and you’re not just throwing stuff at it hoping something sticks you know your approach to how you say these guys has got to got to change and and really that’s really the whole aim for tonight for these guys to spend their free time to hang out with me and me to sit here it you know at nine o’clock and like us I didn’t pay either is to try to get some dialogue going just like we tried to do on the school side of things because yeah we want to come in but we don’t want that new guy to spend two or four years in school you know make that initial investment and his tools with the knowledge he has to make a further investment in schools and and you put a map at the gate you know minimum wage and and very quickly you know choke him out you know he goes to work for a copier company or an IT company only means four hundred ollars with the tools he carries around in his briefcase you know I think a lot of things you guys to said to so far you know why is in this industry is the challenge of fixing the car you know I think that’s one things that tracks all of us to it it’s the car the technology around the car you know that’s the challenge but we I don’t think any of us would be happy doing any other field for that yes that was a great point Matt I mean that’s one thing my dad was a carpenter he also used to tell me that he loved what he did because at the end of the day he could step back and see you know how there’s something there that wasn’t there we got there you know with us you know it’s a car that gets both on the hook you know we’re able to especially we can quickly efficiently you know find the problem I’ve got my son’s Ford Ranger outside now waiting for me to get in this but yeah yeah that’s very gratifying um that’s one of the biggest things I’ve missed being in management or the training side I still loved what would I do you know people seeing the difference you can make in people’s life but I miss the game broken car comes in it’s me versus a car I’m gonna win yeah it only depends on how long he’s going to take to do it but every tire came in was a new challenge and as you mentioned that’s probably again why I wanted let’s do this it’s it’s 10 to 12 counts they come and get him out and that’s very rewarding yeah go back one more think to the compensation side see you guys can chime in as you see fit you know from a tax perspective I know that as a tech you know again I got it you know the business side you can’t charge big-time for every day that comes in the door because you know one guy that that’s like you all you guys have invested in the training and it’s willing to be able to do it efficiently you know you might do it in an hour you know guy less trained or less capable might take for you can’t justify four hours to the consumer right so that’s that’s one thing but the same token way do you think that I mean what’s the play there and is very advantageous drawback to it especially the smaller a lot smaller wider more bumper-to-bumper words the larger shops I can’t believe they litigate to Diagnostics dedicated to under par dedicated just to feel here you guys who are participating hit a slight little difficulty lost signal there for a moment getting that back up again see that we are back online so a little hiccup there not sure what the cause was maybe there’s too many people watching extracurricular activities online right now and tying up the airwaves oh wait piggyback on that a little bit shops can survive typically just off the diagnostics a conversation with a lot of people the shop I used to work at stills made the investment training into tools they have a scan tools to cover GM for chrysler honda and specialize in it so they can’t fail other shops out to do just the difficult stuff they only need to make money on the gravy stuff but sure the front-end worked the brake jobs the water pumps etcetera and so put off by the customers oh well you know I grew up to mr. Smith’s auto repair up the road here or a be generic name shops here I’ll give them you know the oil changes the exhaust work the front end work but then I’ll go back over here to this job to do the hard taxes well this jobs made the investment do your heart fantastic work wait you also own your loyalty to give them the easy stuff to the tires the great cetera you guys did tape loop to guys the transmission work and then couple guys is a McQueen stuff and so the shop was probably a little busy money on me but the work I did kept all those customers in the house as we didn’t have to show people a big picture yeah and really I mean isn’t it’s not just a diet that you need the education the training for now I mean come on it’s not that you can’t change the tires on the car you can uh you can’t reset the oil life monitors or maintenance reminders or any other kind of stuff look at every registrations that are yeah that requires tooling and well in the shop cultivated on Union in first off they spent you are looking for where the battery was and then then anything relearn’s that have to be done with it over europe area today she went to the battery now required special tooling yeah so this is yeah and unfortunately I mean chime in I mean to a lot of the first experience was limited to my little neck to the woods here just a general apathy among a lot of technicians to get the training to stay current even on these routine service items and then going around the country here last few years I’ve seen something similar so I don’t think it’s just limited do you know again guys would rather do the easy stuff the stuff that they don’t have to put any extra effort in and just you know kind of do the job let me kind of temper that with as well since we started doing some of the webinars that we do here and Brian you guys I know did quite a few of them there’s also a hunger among a lot of guys who want to be more like you guys you know and they’re looking for the sources of that information but maybe they can’t adjust fire had the ability to do journey division if some of these other events that you guys make the investment you want to chime in on on that you didn’t say any location reform other people are doing what you’re doing or want to do what you’re doing do what you want to do is gonna be beneficial hmm there’s there’s no reason to just sit there sir Facebook and look at pictures of cats conversing with other guys yeah and I say that I mean I Etienne kind of started off that way I mean you can still learn quite a bit there if you go digging in the right places but unfortunately it seems that a lot of guys learn of I attend Allan and they belong to the I ain’t testing nothing random membership Scott if you’re watching sorry buddy I know I’m not I am I think it’s a very worthwhile organization and as I can but yeah was 10 years ago and what was join or 15 years ago where it was a lot of the insiders and he proved he the gospel truth what happened and maybe a lot of before that point our career where it was man I found my people yeah friend of ours man I just he came to Michigan was wife couple weeks ago for anniversary and his wife said I didn’t think you guys actually just I just thought these were his online friends that were just made up people and you know that’s a lot of us here tonight and guys are watching and they miss watch them as well you know we found our band of brothers if you go and it goes back to that passion right so then we all should keep common curiosity that’s what I can’t really was in the forums and and in the chat rooms literally days and I’m kinda saturated also it becomes a group of great a couple thousand people to tens of thousands of people and it’s tough to sit between the the legit information the fly-by-night as its former reflection in parts there’s a big difference between seeking out a bullet after you’ve exhausted every Newtons that you can come up with it’s the bullet and then backtrack and think to yourself well how could I have got here that through my test method and modify and I don’t see that very often it is advantageous to go there get the bullet kill the hours is it a date then you reach that point through test method but I think it crates you in the longer but can I do something like that that Ryan mentioned in a couple you guys mentioned it’s it’s a matter of your own personal professional pride that takes you back to that point hey I’ll be the first to admit when I was faced with the diagnostic situation one of the first places I went to after I got my information on nowhere ever might cause the problem the system description duty of operation that type of thing was to check into commonalities was there a thread on identify there a thread in the ITN databases but I never took that is that’s the fix I took that as what would be tested verify if I am the 331st you know case for this type of problem and I think you’re right you know it’s the guys like like you guys that would take that and then if necessary reverse-engineer how you got to that point so that you can apply what you learned to the next situation which again shop owners if you’re watching this why these patches are valuable to you you know if you have a guy in your area that even if he’s working for you competitors and he has the ability to do what some of these guys are doing you need to define those guys and hook up one of them maybe you can correct and hire men direct you know and send them to work so they have something to do I know that was always one of my complaints in the shop I’d never switched any shop for any other reason that there was nobody knew when we’re done and you know I take care of my family as long as I could take care of my family I was a happy camper and with I’m there seeking knowledge I’ve gained in friendship but the knowledge is perma and then sleep everybody in the road no matter who they are they’re going to have to continue the education and they’re going to have to see that yep there are guys out there that are more than willing teachers of essence to that’s a guy just looking for this yeah see he’s gonna succeed yeah and I gotta say to the to what happened you said I mean they are absolutely right there there are still a lot of guys in high TM you know I know you guys tell your your your group that is supporting one another there so so we I know I kind of hit the shop owners about what I’m saying let me hit the texts who are watching who want to write their their skills to the next level the resources are there there are guys just like the ones you’re listening to tonight that are out there that are more than willing to bend over backwards to help you if you’re trying to help yourself you know if you come on to one of these forms and you’re having a particularly tough time with the diagnostic situation if you’ve done your homework if you’ve done the basic tests and you’re still struggling you know these guys are more than willing to help you get that last little piece of the puzzle in place but don’t expect them to do your troubleshooting long-distance for you you know you have to do your part and if you’re not sure what your part is these guys will help you learn so you know any hungry guys out there the students who are watching if you want to to increase your diagnostic capabilities then guys and many like them are there to help you they are out there that’s a harsh reality but it’s the truth we may not be properly equipped this Diego or finish the refit problem yeah I have slowly I wish they covered on the road and then again learn from that do I see this very out how many make chipping this hard because we are incapable well they’re not water but you know you might have to acquire this piece of equipment or the buddies help me yes so what you’re saying Magnus is if you’re still using a break you probably need to upgrade your tools a little bit a paper clip in LA yeah yeah unfortunately and yeah there’s still a lot of but in the marketplace I talked a lot of people in history now and one things I learned early on was that there’s nearly 3/4 of a million of us out there trying to eke out a living in this business I’ve said it before I’ll say it again I think that the men and women who are the caliber of the technicians that are with me tonight probably optimistically represent about 10% of that group I say that the 10% on the bottom of that group need to be run out of the business on a rail tarred and feathered for what they do do consumers and their cars but I think there were all of my travels that the group that’s in the vast majority of guys do want to do what’s right you want to do what’s best but lack the information or know where to get the information to to make that happen and get Ryan I’m going to call on you since you know you’re involved in that aspect of ministry and you’re all over the place do you see the same thing absolutely absolutely don’t see a whole lot of people doing as a public perceives and just intentionally ripping somebody off but there’s a lot of unintentional rewboss out there just because of what kind of knowledge lack of like tooling in proper training that’s think the technicians got a good heart means honestly trying to do the right thing he’s his loss at this point man I’m playing the parts cannon and starting to shoot our sensor at the vehicle and hope the problem goes away I still go when I’m home you all different shop owners throughout the week for lunch and I visited any little shops down the d-level copped a sort of collar or just just get a new appreciation of what’s out there different levels and how we can reformat our threatening and reach all the levels of guys there are those guys like man said with a paperclip and it tests like training money stuff and sometimes we do do need to show them the light that there’s a better way out there of more efficiently and effectively facing cars I mean it’s amazing there’s so many shops out there that don’t even have internet in their shops it’s like weekly phone calls from people that don’t even have where’s panic in front of them trying to figure out why this new pump slip right in it boggles my mind but but they’ve never been taught anybody all right let’s see if we can like recap because boy time is just flying by and I promised I wouldn’t keep you guys any longer than an hour primarily the skills gap tournament exists industry shortage I don’t particularly think so and I think the panelists agree it’s not the shortage of bodies for changing tires or changing oil like that but it’s gonna be the men and women who can and is and I know we talk about Diagnostics and we we always said associated like drivability issues but now it’s the entire car yeah we’re you can have issues anything from the engine control module to the modules that control the windows and if you’ve been keeping up with the stuff I’ve been posting lately in the magazine the connected cars of the future are not that far down the road that’s all my son the other day that when my seven-year-old granddaughters ready to drive she may have the choice between driving the car itself or letting the car drive it for her right so that’s the technology we’re facing and as shop owners it’s the men and women you know like these guys who are going to be the ones to help you take care of your customers and need to be treated as such Tech’s if you were to rise to this level the resources are there you just got avail yourselves of them and you have to invest your time in yourself in order to become better and I’m sure any of them in here on the panel tonight are party to that group that would be there to help you if you reached out of hand and say I want to work so let me just go down the line here Adam your first one up here on my screen so I’m gonna click on you first what do you think I used to yeah and I’m gonna reiterate that to real quick cuz we do try to support especially the public education as much as we can we’ve done a few highlights of local program recently and we have another panel discussion to focus on that shop owners text it’s not that hard you know look at who’s near yet the industry advisory councils maybe made three or four times you know during the course of the school year you know you get fed they want your feedback if you can spend some time talking with the kids and sharing your own experiences absolutely they will eat that up Matt your buddy your overview of finding the warm bodies we’re kind of a vicious cycle in our trade here where we have information available the people Cree and all the subscriptions but we’ll handle it silver bullets don’t need this knowledge this will appear on the car that may be working out yeah it’s a vicious cycle and because of that I think it’s hard for the Ryan men to put on clothes good job Lauren maybe you don’t want to change things for his ex and in 12 for yourself but they can’t they can’t because little prices so above is market dependent on over I’m not sure what I think that’s a great observation as well and which we had more time to pursue that business is business right and in the big change the special we are going to do what they can to capture their market share advertising those lost leaders services we all know about didn’t love I used to live the service gets not limited early err and people start to see with both trade they’re hurting so bad that wages were being driven off and I know a couple of shops now they’re losing their mechanics their text to caterpillar a beauty truck sure cuz they’re offering way more oh yeah yeah absolutely and not just other repair fields like you again any trade trade is it there’s a shortage of capable men and women to fill those slots so yeah we’re gonna be competing not only for the new ones coming in but for the ones that we already have you know I certainly understand that yeah sounds like a topic for another panel right what do you think echo what those two guys talked about keep your staff owner get involved with industry trade association of open with a school help raise up the next generation of technicians or your next generation of employees I think well I know math and animation engine and myself are all involved with local low tech tools under advisory committees help them out in help educate the general public or even the schools that are feeding these low tech schools these to be the day where all this guy’s not gonna be a doctor over here become a cannon from the nothing to be further from the truth than that we still need to educate those smart people and have good hands-on skills reading comprehension skills technical abilities but on the flip side we have often a good jobs when they come out yeah we can’t expect all this stuff problem and then hope we’re gonna pay them seven bucks an out so right it is you create a monster at that point for me from a shop owner perspective so getting bottom of the schools start developing the next generation of technicians and be willing to pay and when they come
