WCC School of Automotive and Motorcycle Technology – Washtenaw Community College

Is your car or motorcycle more than just a way
to get around but a part of who you are?
At Washtenaw Community College’s School of
Automotive and Motorcycle Technology, cars
and motorcycles are a way of life. Students
get a chance to learn about high performance
vehicle repair; how to customize good cars to become
spectacular showpieces; and soup up motorcycle
engines to make them supercharged.
In the Auto Body Repair program you’ll learn
the latest techniques in body work, painting,
and collision repair. Select students in this
program have worked on special projects for
the Big Three, appeared on national TV shows,
and had their work highlighted in numerous
magazines.
In the Automotive Service program you’ll learn
to diagnose and fix computer-controlled vehicles.
You will take classes on engine repair, alternative
fuels, diesel technology, brakes, suspension,
and much more. Top students get to design and
implement modifications to high performance cars.
If you prefer two wheels over four, WCC has
one of the premier motorcycle service technician
programs in the country. You’ll learn to
repair American as well as metric motorcycles
and be trained to build and modify performance
engines. Our instructors were hand-picked
from all over the country for their
experience and expertise.
You won’t find a motorcycle dynamometer
like this in any other educational facility
in Michigan. We have 28 lifts, alignment racks,
thousands of tools and tool boxes for student
use, down draft paint booths, new engines
on moveable carts, top-of-the-line frame decks,
and the latest in computer diagnostic software.
You will be divided into teams for most hands-on
work and all special projects, as you would
in the industry. These programs will help
you think critically, troubleshoot problems
and develop your mechanical aptitude, which
are valuable skills in many industries.
We consistently win awards at prestigious
shows and our programs are so well respected
that we’ve become the go-to place for sports
celebrities who want a unique look to their
vehicles. And unlike for-profit schools, you
earn real college credits at WCC that can
lead to an Associates degree or you can transfer
to almost any four-year school in the country.
If the sound of a finely-tuned engine is like
music to your ears, or the look of a customized
vehicle is like fine art to you, come join Team WCC
and take your skills to the professional level.
