University of Sussex, automotive engineering and mechanical engineering

I’m the team leader for this year’s former students it’s a team of students building and designing a single-seat racecar the aim is to build a car that will compete in Silverstone in July so I’m designing the suspension upright and will hub so basically everything that connects from the wishbones to the wheels I’m working towards next year’s car designing the brake discs for it so hopefully by the time we start they’ll already be designed all the degrees Sussex University are accredited so accreditation means this industry recognized so as the Institute of mechanical engineers who are credit our degrees by doing degree here because it is accredited you can go on to become a chartered engineer if you so wish the interim and for our design this year we’ll go into the power of the engine next year probably going to be the cbr600rr engine I designed and tested with EFI a chassis for this year SolidWorks in creo both CAD software we use it for the modeling and design of our parts they’re basically a computer-aided drawing program that allows me to create two DS or 3d models and answers which allows me to analyze turbulence like flow data for that object up in the workshops if it was a simple part we can manufacture ourselves feels more complicated you’d have to use a CNC where the technicians would take care of that for you we go through the whole design and manufacture process that you would in industry so it’s a real world experience it’s just engaging and interesting you need teach me all the knowledge to how to face the world after I graduate it will give me a lot of experience of working in a team I’m quite excited about working towards the dream doing mechanical engineering at Sussex is a really good start to my career as a professional engineer
