The Automotive Industry accelerates with SAP S/4 HANA

[Music] good morning good afternoon good evening whatever the case may be this is Dmytro malik global Isfahan a team and I’m here with Olomouc who is the global vice president of the automotive IBU Wooley welcome thank you for everything thank you for a time and of course we will be talking about automotive what is it what is they’ve a lot of industry automotive industry is the most exciting industry these days a tremendous change we see a lot of innovative innovation in the industry driven by four major elements which are also known as case connected autonomous shared and electrification and we translate that into five digital priorities and you can talk about today but let’s talk about that but before we go there of course I’m being asked on a team I need to ask you that question why automotive companies either producers or manufacturers of parts or any other supply vendor there why would even consider this for Hana what’s in it for them so that means basically three major drivers one is the licensing situation right and our maintenance window and 2025 mm-hmm – our IT reasons that are for example driven by simplification of complex landscapes so we have capabilities that we moved from CRM and SCM into s1 Hana beautiful makes it a lot for myself for exempting and then the fury in the face of great ways to simplify that but also its business transformation corporate initiatives merciful acquisitions we’re really companies need to reinvent themselves to a certain degree what we call digital revolution of digital storm okay and that’s probably the most impact for the most important one so let’s talk about that you mentioned that all of what you hear from customers which translate it into a few trends what is the what is the first one that is affecting the industry well when you look at smaller products look at the cars that we’re driving for example the trucks there’s so much technology in there right now and we’re moving towards autonomous vehicles yes that means a ton of change in terms of electrical drive frames battery technology but ultimately it’s it’s becoming a computer on wheels mm-hmm a number a few months ago speaking with Bosch I guess they are doing a lot of that you know making the product smarter any any comments any recent but it’s a great example of a automotive supplier that is on the forefront of technology innovation and what we have done with them were using the concept of connected vehicles to help truck drivers to find secured parking spaces and that’s a challenge in a lot of countries like Germany so we’re basically brokering unused parking space close to interstate highways and we make that available and to truck drivers that are connected through Bosch technology and STP technology okay that’s good so smart products probably pave the road to smarter value-chain how you phrase that yeah so our digital supply chain and connected manufacturing has a lot to do with supporting a well-oiled machine and specifically in automotive we see a complex supply network with multiple tiers of suppliers ultimately delivering just in time just in sequence components to assembly plant and that we spits out a thousands of cars a day and that’s where the efficiency comes into place and that’s where we with Isfahan I have new ways of intelligent production planning and more intelligent forecasting algorithms I was speaking with our IBM colleagues about in a smaller company here a simple example of a straight exactly what you said were they import a lot of parts from various suppliers they assemble the cars in Pakistan but what happens if I recall correctly they don’t always know which part might have a defect so they learn of it only when the car is already out through the dealership and in the customer hands and it’s way too late and I guess as for Hana is now helping them to overcome this absolutely that’s a great example I Adam in Pakistan has has its own set of logistical and infrastructure challenges and as you said learning about defects after that the car has left the dealership that’s the worst the worst-case scenario right so what they have been able to do is with with s4 Hana optimizing that that process of production planning of supply network planning so they have 95% fast the material requirements planning and reduced risk of supply chain disruption they also reduce the defects by 20% and improved sales or accuracy a tremendously mm-hmm that’s a great example so we talked about so far smart products smart supply chain how about the next industry trend right customer centricity is one that that is so important these days right we have a very mature market in terms of products or meeting customer requirements I mean you hardly find a vehicle that has enough that doesn’t have enough horsepower right or that doesn’t have a good attendance system so yeah and you can have the vehicle of any color as long as it is black sector any report right but so what that means you really want to you know you want to delight your customer and especially when you sell hybrid electric supercars like karma mana motive noise right which is a which is a start-up in the Silicon Valley beautiful products and they also want to provide not only a perfect customer experience to their car but also through the interaction to multiple channels and that includes the the internet and they’re using all hybrids and and CEC’s a platform to do that and it’s if you have a chance go to the website try to configure a vehicle it’s beautiful it’s a great demonstration of Sapa and Hyper’s technology and how that’s being used here ok and then you started with this as the big theme across the whole windows with the new business models the rethinking how you do business the new products any details here absolutely so a couple examples here in the supplier market you see the the marriage of elephants so ZF in Germany and TRW in the u.s. merged and created this super supplier if you will which you know positions set up nicely in in the new world of connected connected vehicles and electrified drive trains and and technology components in the vehicle and then but it also creates a tremendous need for business transformation supported and enabled by ASAP technology and they really they are really leveraging sa penis for Hana and and and our they were not a portfolio to to do that and they have recently signed a great commitment to to really doing this with us and that’s very exciting so that’s one example in the automotive supplier market another one is when you look at BMW General Motors Ford going into shared models like car sharing right Chery so GM is heavily invested in lift for example for is joining that adventure BMW has their car to go and and the hemlines are so they have multiple initiatives but those are new businesses for companies that require you know technology to support that and it’s it’s it’s something he knew it has to do with software development optimizing routes and all these kind of things that traditional manufacturers have not really a ton of experience in so that’s where we come in and help them and help them to succeed and and at the same time we’re also talking with you know new entrants like the words or the the Google way Mo’s and so there’s those who invest in driverless cars and other right of Google alphabets way more one of their big bets to really enter new markets like automotive on transportation okay so whatever the transformation you know merger of your suppliers or you become more of a software developer in addition to hardware or whether you have a new business model what car sharing and all that stuff ESPA hana is at the front and center of their transformation but let me ask you how exactly does it help those companies transform yeah so when we’re talking about the digital core right yes in it it really is is that it’s the backbone of the these companies right the the real-time data that allows them to make quick decisions right to assimilate to identify financial implications of making certain decisions to integrate to to have you know the state-of-the-art technology that allows you with ASAP car platform and open API frameworks to really innovate quickly that’s something that is so important and that’s why so many companies were making the making the move to as forum I’m glad to hear that and I think is a great illustration of your last point is our thousand life as for Hana customer wars and automotive customer dialogue nice nice congratulations thank you and I hope that 2003 3000 and so on so forth will be also at emotive yes well thank you so much for your time thank you to me dream [Music]
