I’m going to talk about the automobile
industry the car dealerships because I
see what’s working and I see what’s not
working I have the confidence to share
these tips and tricks with you today
because I’ve been working with
automobile dealerships and the car
industry in general for probably about
eight years now I started my agency back
in 2011 and one of my first clients was
a car dealership way back then and I’ve
been working with car dealerships ever
since here’s what I see that’s not
working and if this is you don’t feel
bad you just haven’t been educated
otherwise so what’s not working is
simply sharing links to your facebook
business page from your website or your
craigslist account for that matter of
your latest sale if there’s no context
around that actual link chances are high
that you’re not going to get a lot of
exposure or awareness or engagement as
we call it on Facebook or in terms of
social media marketing in general yes
you may have a few very loyal fans on
your business page already and that’s
awesome keep up that momentum of
building fans and followers on your business
page however if you consistently
only share the same type of content
day after day or week after week that
well is going to run dry sooner than
later so here’s my suggestions of
different things that you can share on
your Facebook business page as a car
dealership share your share a new car
delivery even a video of the new
customer being elated with their
purchase or even their service
appointment
I mean who isn’t pumped when they get a
fresh oil change or their tires rotated
now also go ahead and share similar
pictures and images and video clips to
your Instagram business page feed the
fact remains that you have very
different audiences on your facebook
business page as you do on your
Instagram account so simply keep that in
mind those are a few tips for you on
what to share on your feed now when it
comes to your stories that’s a very
different matter and that’s when you
want to dive even deeper into the
stories the behind the scenes the why
you do what you do why you love what you
do in terms of your dealership or
working at your dealership or building
up your dealership or whatever it is in
terms of your car dealership it’s not
just about producing content that is all
about you
you need to be thinking in terms of them
your ideal client and customer that you
want to draw in talk about their needs
inside of stories and of course use the
tools available to you inside of the
stories hubs the location tags the at
mentions when it’s appropriate
I already said location tags and
different like stickers and the fun
things inside of the stories that make
it interesting and more human more
relatable using stories on a daily basis
can really really up your game in terms
of engagement and awareness for your
brand on social media marketing so we’ve
talked a little bit now about where to
post on social media as a car dealership
or someone in the automobile
industry and what to post so
let’s talk a little bit about when to
post because honestly this is one of the
main questions I get on a daily basis
Lorri when should I post when’s the
best time well the truth is if you have
a business account on Instagram and if
you have a facebook business page that
information is free and readily
available to you inside of your
insights so this is how you find
insights on your facebook business page
and as you can see here I am on my very
own business page you simply come over
to and yours might look a little bit
different than mine this bar up
here this menu bar up here but you
simply want to find the one that is
called insights you click on that and
then to find when to post you simply
want to come down to this posts section
and you can see here Facebook breaks it
down for you by the day as well as just
in general on average over the week so
this is where in insights under posts is
when you find the ideal time of when
your fan and follower base is online
here we are getting insights for our
Instagram business account you’re gonna
come down to your icon here in the
bottom right hand corner keep in mind I
am an Android user so these are this is
how it works for me this is now my feed
I’m coming up here to the little
hamburger I don’t know why they call it
a hamburger that doesn’t look like a
hamburger to me top right three vertical
lines tap on that and then on insights
and then over here to audience and then
scroll down and I’m tapping through the
days here Saturday etc tap on the bars
you can see exactly the numbers that
Instagram shows you of the ideal time of
when your viewers and fans are online on
Instagram so for example on Saturdays
I’m going to choose at noon instead of
9:00 AM or 3:00 PM now the reality is those
numbers used to look a lot different
than they do now these days people are
online almost all the time but it’s
still worth checking because there can
be dips and dips and valleys and that
kind of thing it’s a really good idea
to check your insights on your Facebook
page and your Instagram account prior to
posting so there you go there is a few
tips for you on what when and where to
post on social media for the best
results possible for the car dealership
or the automobile industry in general
and I know I get it it looks like a lot
of work and the truth is it can be a lot
of work especially if you’re new at this
or aren’t able to dedicate a whole bunch
of time to it on a daily or weekly basis
so you have a couple of options that’s
where you may want to reach out to a
social media professional and get their
help and guidance and perhaps training
