it on isn’t pretty it’s not drawing too much current it’s pretty full so it’s it for now and it’s not a load test Oh it’ll be interesting to see what this battery does because I knew it’s been abused quite a lot parson it is a scene of the battery and is a very cheap that for from low price to all but it could still be in reasonable condition I don’t think it’s very low well this could be from 2002 say I think it’s a 68 am pillar battery when it was new so if it sat in a wood near that it could do be a good addition to for battery bank bail again we just to be account limit down to zero turning the bones putting it into the balancing operation after maybe two and a half hours it’s a pretty long time to but was they sealed battery box I know this Petra has been sitting kind of empty it’s been pretty much it pretty be using free I’ve did to life so I think it’ll dude more give them ban to get a very thorough balancing and overcharged and and it seems to be holding up a voltage pretty good sitting at thirteen point seven volts still of the beam disconnected for a number of seconds coffee’s done you know what they’re just nothing dig below downturned give it a bit of a run what’s the word stable my sister shouldn’t take too long to reach that stage of this rate pretty high internal resistance on this thing yeah probably gonna stick somewhere around 12 for two 12.15 no same wonderful swimmer to actually push the voltage back up as a healthy better shoot dude come on yeah looks like it isn’t planning and doing that pretty close range and that’ll be the end of that test one champ hours old genius totally okay don’t this stabilize put it in my chart and charge it back up again that race a bit for me it’s got such a high internal resistance and why with a bit of lunch I can get this capacity up just a little bit by smoking it again at least I hope so all right say that race has been charging overnight for maybe 12 13 hours or so and it’s been equalizing again for the last one and a half hours or so and it’s using a bit less current today than it did yesterday which is a good sign so I’m gonna just go ahead and do another discharge capacity test voltage slowly dropping yes you’d expect don’t see what happens when we tip a load on there’s not four timer that looks to be a little bit better than good yesterday I think it dropped but we’re 13 points pretty quickly granted is dropping pretty fast today’s wall and I’m getting like this ROM name I’m pretty optimistic that I’m gonna get more than 19 and in Paris out of it which is what I got yesterday says it’s using I think it was sitting at about seven hundred milliamps but I took it off the equalizing charge yesterday and I was using five hundred say the cells should be more fully charged this time round and if I’m not mistaken somewhere around this time it was down to twelve point two volts but ask you just be like them reacting up and no way we’ll find out just gotta get with this run okay this is a definite improvement the voltage is actually going back up this stunt round and since this is such a crappy battery city speech it’s not so very big at all so I think I’m gonna just keep on balancing and cycling this thing until I get two or three cycles when I don’t get any capacity improvement at all certain I think it’s kind of an idea about how how many circuits it takes for a battery like this which has been pretty abused is be stored half empty and overcharged quite a few times in this day and just to get an idea how much work it takes to get fats down the battery back to a stable maximum spec it’s obvious I’m never going to be new again but there’s going to be a point where it doesn’t get any better so that’s fine edge and it appears but we have gained exactly nothing gonna stop that showed you though that one said give it another game mmm didn’t really get too much more capacity a bit better this cycle it’s definitely changed characteristics because it recovered to two point twenty two volts this time around where they’d only recovered to you’ll at one point nine twelve the last time so something’s happened so hmm it’s strange but we’d only get 99 powers seeing this it’s as if it does have more capacity but it’s got a higher internal resistance but on the other hand since the voltage was high in the beginning that would tell us that it’s got a although we’re internal resistance say something weird is going on perhaps we under charged cells have improved and the other ones have become with us alright it’s charged up again I put it on balancing the moment I got out of bed and it might have dropped down to half an amp right away and it’s miss itting at 0.45 I very bad for maybe half an hour now so I think this better is pretty full the charge by May I had it on 13.8 volts maintenance charge overnight and I’ve charged it at 14 point 7 volts for quite a while before that until the current drop down to maybe a couple hundred milliamps so this battery should be a bit as Forsyth gets now so let’s do another cycle and see if we can get something to happen but behaviorally sure this other form was quite interesting so I’m very curious to find out what’s it’s gonna do now I need more time hello again Jaron shut on time is starting so let’s see I will over voltage she’s gonna drop looks pretty good so far still way above 13 volts I didn’t run atrocities clients I’ve had some pretty shall we say hot issues they’ve go below 13 volts which take lost at around twelve point four volts the last time soon we should expect to see something about that if it’s improved but I’m kind of skeptical that it has and it indeed does seem to be dropping quite fast save maybe the internal resistance it isn’t going to be a whole lot better this time but perhaps we’ll get a bit more capacity out of it I honestly have not the slightest clue about what’s going to come out of this cycle can be very interesting to see it’s probably gonna stay blonde somewhere around twelve point four volts vicitms well there we go we just turned around and started again back up so I think it was somewhere around 12.45 cycle and then it’s 12.45 say that it’s a bit of a step up a little tired a bit of improvement and we’ve just got to see how and for up it’ll climb who knows maybe it’ll climb back up to 12.5 although I kind of doubt that we’ll see where we go it’s starting to go back down again twelve point four six seven but definitely a bit better than before so we’re definitely marginally better internal resistance now marginally by saying that idiocy is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results and it certainly seems most what we’re doing right now let’s put this charge it back up and cycle it again hmm it’s kind of astounding how it can actually maintain such consistent results really it’s done 19m Paris on the spot every time so guess that’s a good thing I’ll quote it as a reference battery all right I’ve balanced it one more time and I was it sits on maintenance charging for a few hours because they had to do stuff say let’s give this battery another cycle this might be the last one I bother with because the change we saw the last time was pretty small but who knows I might come to the realization that I might want to do another one either way say it’s still anyone’s game all right Dave we’ll get more than 19 heavy always now do it this time of year well we do have still a bit higher voltage there were internal resistance if a 12 point 5 volts this time and rising mm-hmm so at least something’s happening words are unnecessary all right so after four cycles I’m pretty confident this battery will never be more than 19 ampere was what Martin and half was we absolutely the best number right you to get out of it say I think I’m just gonna go be Equalization charge off earned it with a little bit of a quick dab with me wait in order to just see how much your voltage drops and maybe take a quick peek of a video a shot back then and compare how much for voltage drops in the first couple of seconds all right see I just did a quick review of my video footage and the first cycle when I done the first balancing run on this battery it dropped to about twelve point two volts in one and a half minutes so let’s see what it does now I’m pretty confident we’ll be way about that it also dropped below 13 volts in just a few seconds there we do they would be 1/2 1/2 minute mark after all that work we’re seeing over 12 and a half volts which is a considerable improvement this battery could probably crank over a car cannot stop this don’t need it anymore well shot over 12 point 7 volts and climbing so we have seen a considerable improvement in its performance by just sit around adjuster cycling it a few times and balancing it and I’m fairly impressed by the performance of this battery I expected it to be the going stretch of a junk really first where I’ve been cycling it so many times I was expecting you to get worse and worse by every cycle since it’s just been very abused but this battery Wow look at that over 13 volts there’s but you might actually be usable not just throw it into the battery bank I’m kind of curious as to how it measures up to be my current testing battery which I’m sitting on might have to do some cycling on that one as well anyway I think I’m gonna give each side and try and crank over a comp with this thing just for the heck of it alright we are now inside my 1990 Volvo 740 with a 2.3 liter petrol engine with almost no compression so it’s usually pretty send in to conquer over sadly despite being a large car of a battery didn’t fit inside the hood so it’s just jumper D in which isn’t going to make things easier for it my jumper leads aren’t the best ones bhakta anyway I’ve disconnected a huge injectors to make things a bit more interesting and I’ve put my meter in crest mode so no I’m going to one dimension quest mode so that will see the instantaneous lowest and highest voltage on factory air people saw three point four one year right and a way okay it’s a good Wow that’s pretty good well this Walters ten and a half volts and we’re way low at the end of that long jumper cable just putting a live mode again I mean max average I’m not complaining about it back sure that’ll do this to a car like this I mean come on okay I’m not gonna burn my starter that’s pretty good it’s getting back up what was on minimum voltage let’s see mmm 11 volts ha that’s probably a bit of heat going on there a lot more heat going on around here and I don’t even want to think about the poor starter hmm so yeah I’d say that’s a pretty successful restoration even though we never got more than about 20 amperes out of it it’s a strong better display fact so thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video and maybe even learned a thing or two about batteries I definitely learned some
