#myNCstory – Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship: Rev up for real-world experience

(upbeat music)
– This environment benefits me ’cause
it makes you feel like you’re in a shop
so you feel the environment,
you have all the equipment
you need to do everything and anything,
and everybody’s willing to lend a hand
and help you out.
They’ll jump right in.
They’ll show you what you need to know.
They’ll even let you
do it after so that way
you can take in the knowledge
and really let it sink in.
– So the program prepares
the students by giving them
real world vehicles to work on.
We have vehicles in the shop here that
we can all take apart,
disassemble, reassemble.
We also have state of the art equipment
and we have one of the only two
engine testing dynamometers
in the industry
that’s in this college.
– Good opportunities
here at Niagara College.
I’ve had the chance to
work in the dyno room
with the engines and increase horsepower
on a 350 Chevy, which
was pretty rewarding.
