there are 1.2 billion cars on the world’s roads today and that numbers going to rise to about 2 billion in the next 20 years those vehicles account for 60% of the carbon dioxide emissions from our surface transport that’s not sustainable the vehicle manufacturers have a number of approaches to this they’re trying to use composite materials lightweight materials lightweight structures some are making smaller city cars some using conventional engines some of hybrid vehicles electric vehicles some have fuel cell or even gas-powered vehicles the question is what combination of those technologies is going to give us the sustainable vehicles of the future this MSC addresses all of those topics it enables you to be the industry expert in sustainable automotive engineering there are five core modules led by wmg researchers and teaching fellows each module has a number of guest lectures delivered by industry experts and that combination means that the academic theory that we’re teaching is firmly vetted with an industry context there are also for elective modules chosen from wmds broader range we are uniquely placed to deliver this education because we have a very strong automotive presence right here on the campus we’re co-located with the advanced research engineering team of the UK’s largest automotive manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover warrick is home to the advanced propulsion Center the wmg Center high value manufacturing catapult and the national automotive innovation Center this course has direct support from a number of our global automotive partners Jaguar Land Rover frost Eevee continental engineering and Tata Motors the course contains far more than classroom based learning you will get hands-on practical experience testing traction machines inverters and engines in our vehicle energy facility you’ll also get to manufacture and characterize batteries in the energy innovation center you’ll also spend around half of your time on your in dividual project this will be aligned with WM G’s world leading research activities and tied to the automotive industry through our collaboration network your project will be supervised by a professional researcher or an expert engineer with extensive background in the industry this MSC will give you the knowledge skills and confidence to design and build the sustainable vehicles of the future you
