graduates learn skills that qualify them for entry-level jobs as machinists. It’s an
important field. Machinists don’t just make things, they figure out how to make things,
often on a very small scale to very precise specifications. The best machinists are organized,
good at details, and have a strong work ethic. Here at Lane, you expand on your math and
software skills and learn to read blueprints and engineering drawings. You practice industrial
safety every day in the shop. You leave knowing how to set up and operate all of the standard
tools used by modern machine shops. Our graduates find work at machine repair
and maintenance shops, tool and die shops, at manufacturing and metalworking plants.
Mills and construction contractors hire our students to handle repair and maintenance.
And you find Lane graduates in high-tech, specialty and production machine shops.>>STUDENT: This program is a solid starting
point. Once you get into the workforce and see how machinists use their skills, you’ll
realize just how much potential there is.>>ANNC: Create your future at Lane Community
