Ma qualité c’est… mon ouïe fine – Acoustique automobile

{an8}MY STRENGTH IS… MY GOOD EAR
Elodie – Auto Sound Technician
Listen…
Can you hear it ?
It’s the sound of high standards,
quality and safety.
My name is Élodie.
I am a Sound Analysis Technician.
I’m in charge of ensuring the best service
for high pitched noises
coming from the engine.
My job is really about silence
in order to listen,
analyse and decrypt sounds.
I work in the ACV centre,
in BAA, or Acoustics and Vibration
in aerodynamic and high pitched noises.
What does that mean ?
Actually these are aerodynamic noises,
vehicle ventilation noises,
electrical system noises
and high pitched noises
coming from the engine.
I dissect and analyse
all of these elements
and I observe them
with my eyes, but mostly
I observe them with my ears.
First, in an isolation booth.
This is called organic validation.
Later, in a hemi-anechoic room.
This is the objective synthesis
validation of the whole vehicle.
Finally, in the listening studio
the subjective validation,
based on the recorded signals.
By detecting technical risks,
we gain experience
to benefit our future innovations,
and become
part of PSA’s progress approach.
We can respond to the automotive
industry’s technical developments,
by continuously adapting our skills.
Our techniques are increasingly efficient,
and allow for
an amazingly fine acoustic analysis.
Because behind each part,
each innovation, there is a sound,
which we strive to make more subtle.
Actually, I work on the sound
of silence and perfection.
That’s something I find highly motivating.
At PSA, quality means
client satisfaction, first and foremost,
and sound comfort is a part of this.
