James Freudenberg – Message from the Director – Automotive Engineering

If you wanna study automotive
engineering Southeast Michigan is a good
place to do it because the availability
of all the local industry.
Just remember “M” is for Michigan and
“M” is for motor –
Motor City!
The Automotive engineering program one of the
Masters in engineering programs at
University Michigan is somewhat
different
it cuts across departments because the
project of designing an automobile
in today’s world is not exclusively a
mechanical engineering
or an electrical engineering project, it draws
upon
many many different discipline. Students
that
come here to can expect to take
certainly mechanical engineering classes
but also take classes in electronics
electric machines, control systems,
control software development.
They’ll also take classes with more of a business
or management perspective
the automotive engineering master’s
degree program can be taken on campus
or in the take an online while you’re
actually working in industry
and students choose that option because
it allows them to
further their education while they’re
working full-time.
you can really look forward to this
experience is being the capstone
of your MEng career.
The students should choose automotive
engineering if they want to challenge,
the challenge of
the adapting today’s transportation
systems to the availability
of all the microprocessor technology, the
networking technology, computing
technology, the amount of complexity
that is involved in today’s car is
mind-boggling.
We need students to become engineers
to design them, to improve them, and to help the
automotive industry move further into
the 21st century.
