I Worked on the Pope’s Car, You Won’t Believe Why

rev up your engines
sakith says Scotty what’s the
most expensive car you ever worked on
2-door four-cylinder Ford made in
England and you’d think how could that
be the most expensive car you ever
worked on well guess what at one point
in time it was owned by the Pope it was
the last car that the Pope drove before
he became Pope
so it was worth about a million bucks it
was just a beat-up old English Ford –
door but a friend of mine had it in his
collection I worked on it so I mean
that’s expensive car ever worked on
originally probably sold for like five
hundred bucks but it was worth a million
and a half when I was working on it
mr. bull says Scotty I have a 2017 Civic 1.5
turbo with the common oil dilution
issue what can we expect from this new
engine coming out of May 2020
this fix it will honda cover the cost I doubt
if Honda’s ever gonna cover cost they’re
always trying to cover their own rear
end so they don’t have to pay for
mistakes they made most companies were
that way but the new engine oil that I
made a little video about it may solve the
problems because the whole thing was it
was gonna be a better oil that
lubricated better that didn’t build up
deposits that can take the extra
pressure of GDI engines and turbocharged
engines so it merely they may very well
fix the stuff in a honda definitely when it
comes out get the gf6b one for
yours because that’s the highest-rated
one that they have and see what happens
I definitely would if I owned one of
those and times only gonna tell but I
think it should help cuz those oil
engineers they’re pretty sharp
characters, supersize says my drive belt
keeps slipping off out of mercedes-benz 2004
what can be the problem okay if the belt
keeps slipping off that means one of two
things either the automatic tensioner
isn’t tensioning in enough so keep
slipping off or more often one of your
pulleys is wobbling off-center and then
it pops right off so if you put a new
belt on it keeps popping up get yourself
a straight edge and put it in front and
look closely and you see that some of
the pulleys especially just one of them
sticks out further sticks in further
that’s the problem and that one’s gonna have
to be
replaced I see that all the time on them
because they got the belts running so
many different things and just a little
bit off with all that pressure on one
belt running all that crap even off just
a few millimeters it will fly right off
adam says Scotty is the 1983
Mercedes 242d a reliable vehicle well
it was in 1983 I had tons of customers
with those old four-banger diesel engines
they couldn’t get out of their own way
they were slow as molasses going uphill
in January I mean those things were slow
but they could run forever four-cylinder
diesel with big old coffee can Pistons
in them and they could just run and run
like I say they didn’t have any pick up
they could barely get out of their own
way now this is a long time after 1983
today so I don’t know it’s any good
anymore for that you have to find a guy
like me to check it out before you buy
it because you don’t want to buy when
it’s falling apart
now on the other hand you can get parts
for them they make parts or those things
their not cheap cheap unless you live in
Germany but you can still get all the parts
the parts are available if you don’t
want to buy one to fix it up just don’t
pay too much for it it’s not a
collector’s item so it’ll never be worth
a whole bunch of money, nick says
Scotty Subaru Crosstrek manual
transmission or Ford Escape which would
you get oh I definitely go Subaru on
that one with the manual transmission
the big problem Subarus are automatic
transmissions now their engines have
always had some problems with head
gasket blowing but if you keep the
coolant clean change it every three four
years change your engine oil every 5,000
miles keep good oil in it generally
you’re gonna get some good mileage out
of the engine it’s the automatic
transmissions that stink in Subarus I
just talking to a guy next door’s
working on neighbors and conditioner
he’s got a subaru he’s got 250,000 miles
but it’s a manual transmission and he
loves it, peter says Scotty would you
change transmission oil in 2007 SEL edge
after 217,000 miles no I wouldn’t you’d be
gambling with the dynamite on that one
that many miles you don’t know they work
by fluid friction there’s a lot of
friction and dirty floor did you take
that out put in fresh fluid that’s got
less friction in it cuz it’s cleaner it
might start slipping and not working out
that I’d leave it alone I wouldn’t
change it, Dominic Flores saysScotty why
does my petrol engine Civic sound like a diesel
well you must not have taken care of it
then it should not be clattering away if
it’s clattering the first thing
you’ll want to do is check the valve
adjustments if the valves are out of
adjustment it’s going to make a lot of
clattering noise now most of those have
VVT which is variable valve timing a lot
of them have problems with the variable valve
timing system and if that’s the case
have a mechanic check it out it might
need work done in a variable valve
timing system because if it’s not
working right the valves aren’t going to
be opening and closing at
the right them and it’s just gonna
clatter like a diesel, Charlie says
what do you think about a Toyota Corolla
1995 those things were well made
that could run a long time my Celica
it’s basically a corolla it’s got same
engine transmission breaks the only
thing is it’s got a different suspension
different body plopped on top of it
those things can run forever if you take
care of it but of course it’s 1995 it’s
old as the hill it depends on how many
miles everything wears down eventually you
know it’s got 400,000 miles on it odds
are the engine is wearing out the
transmissions wear out when they get
that old but they’re really solid
built vehicles, so if you never want to
miss another one of my new car repair
videos, remember to ring that bell
