Honda Manufacturing (Engineering)

my name is Christian Rivera I’m a body assembly spec engineer for Honda manufacturing of Indiana my name is Ashley loner I work at Honda our East Liberty auto plant in the parts quality body group my name is Sandeep savetti I’m an engineering coordinator in the product engineering development group in Auto quality at Honda of American manufacturing about 18 months ago I got pulled over to the Acura NSX project and I can’t tell you how exciting that was working in a low volume factory where we would have to think differently my first project right off the bat was the introduction of the ILX but it was a really good thing because I was able to grow faster I was really surprised by all the equipment there is out there and how all the 21st century technology there is – I appreciate a lot because I feel like I’ve shown this engineer and you start at Honda your department assigns you a mentor and the purpose of the mentor is to teach you your system and the technical details they’re there to help you grow as an engineer within Honda but over time you start to find your own mentors within the company you find people who are willing to take you under their wing you become a family over time and it’s it’s a relationship you can count on my first love has always been cars and I knew I wanted to work on cars I just never quite knew how to get there and the engineering develop program is actually a two-year commitment you purposely rotate departments throughout Honda to get exposure to all the different branches and facets of manufacturing it helped me understand the bigger picture right off the bat coming from from the University of mindset into the real world the working world I was able to understand how I can contribute to the company it’s such a big company there’s so many places to go there are opportunities always knocking there if you’re more hands-on you can find areas within manufacturing if you’re more design oriented we have wonderful development groups there’s something for everybody a lot of opportunities that is out there to be able to almost like improve myself overall and gain experience in other areas so better myself and hopefully have be able to move up in the company with all the investments that Honda’s making we’re always changing we’re always innovating our facilities and it’s exciting to think that you can have input on how that facility can be upgraded and innovated to be able to achieve the next generation technologies that you’ve been reading about one team approach one team culture that that Honda has is something that I haven’t seen before any other plant or any other job that I’ve had before everybody’s voice is heard you get opinions from a lot of different groups and on whenever there’s any big changes coming on everybody comes together I think it’s a very rare place to work in that you will find a lot of folks that are very proud of the job they have and it’s very common to see folks here that have 20 years of experience 25 years of experience 30 31 years of experience there’s folks that really have grown in some some roots into this company I previously talked to other young engineers who are interested in the automotive field and I’ve always told them that if you can if you have the potential to get a job at Honda it’s it’s an offer you should seriously consider I look at my own experiences and they’ve been nothing but positive you
