Here’s Why This Car is Just Like You

Here’s Why This Car is Just Like You

rev up your engines
roy says Scotty I got an 07 honda
Civic LX coupe has 114 thousand
miles automatic no codes I bought it
from a dealer as a daily driver one
owner has a rough idle when the heat or air is on expecting the idle air
control valve is dirty your thoughts
yeah definitely take that and clean it
you want to pray that’s what it is cause
if it’s the compressor starting to go
out the AC compressor will make it idle
right when you turn it out if it’s
straining the engine too much it’s only
supposed to take a certain amount of
strain of those the age they’re just
like people they get kind of tough and
cranky and grumpy and rumbly and
listen to an old man get up in the morning I remember my old man getting up and have him
going to where he’d bumble and make noises, compressors could do the same thing
Robbo says Scotty I know you don’t
like GM but I’m enamored of an 08
Cadillac STS with 85,000 miles for six
grand I’d lightly use any weak points
and then find a mechanic to check it out
well definitely a mechanic check it out
the first place but I’d say check out
your own brain go to a psychiatrist
those sts are just rolling piles of
crap as they age I had a neighbor who
had one he was a corporate lawyer and
even he said this thing’s driving me
nuts it brakes cost me too much money this guy is making four five hundred
thousand dollars a year and he said on
that and he went out and bought himself
an Acura and he’s still driving an actor
he loves the Acura so I mean it’s your
money you do whatever you want with it
but those things are rolling piles of
junk as they age it’s 12 years old it’s
got 85,000 miles believe me things are
gonna start to break on those things
especially those stupid silicone filled
motor mounts that cost a fortune to
replace it’s just a poorly designed and
poorly built vehicle don’t throw your
money away on that you want a car that
looks nice you can drive around get an
old Lexus or something make it run
all right 71 says how do we make a car
not start I want to dismantle it from my
teenage boy there’s lots of things you
cannot plug but if you want plug the
fuse you might be smart enough to open
it up see if fuse is gone plugging up
take out the electronic fuel injection
relay or the fuel pump relay their marked
to pick up the fuse box top it’ll say
EFI or to save mission and that’s the
relay that right
the plastic black box and when you take
it out the car won’t run but he’s not
gonna have a real hit lying around his
pocket those aren’t common parts so just
do that if you don’t want it to drive
the thing anymore mace says is an old
01 toyota spider 129 thousand miles
a goof buy listed at fifty five hundred and
listening States the owners done well
with basic maintenance good preventive
maintenance you know they’re good cars
but that’s way too much money for a 19
year old Toyota spider the spiders
failed they had the engine in the back
and they are kind of a pain and about to
work on when they break they don’t break
all that often but a 19 year old car one
hundred twenty-nine thousand miles it’s
not worth $5,500 it doesn’t matter I
say the most I’d pay for that thing it’d
be maybe maybe thirty eight hundred
dollars or something like that but if
it’s at a dealership I don’t always sell
it if it’s a dealership they’re never
gonna go down cuz they’re just greedy
and they just still sit on it forever
until they get what they want for it but
if it’s just you know one of these
open-ended car lots and I offer him less
money and see what they’ll take more
than B Scotty my aunt wants to buy 2016
hyundai Santa Fe ultimate for 13,000
bucks any advice thank you well I
wouldn’t buy one unless it was really
cheap now it’s four years old if she’d
get a really cheap deal on it go around
have she’s not gonna drive too many
they’re not like Toyota’s and Honda’s
you can’t drive in two three four
hundred thousand miles but I had customer buy them and get
a hundred thousand
miles is relatively trouble free of
driving out of those things if she’s
happy with that I would definitely try
to pay less because use young guys low
resale values I wouldn’t pay that much
and if she’s not gonna put that many
miles on it it’s cheap enough but I mean
for that kind of money
you know to 1995 says what are the best
gas stations fill up what do you think
about y’all well show makes good gas on
their high test cast as far as I’m
concerned it’s probably the best high
test case you can buy United States it’s
all you some tons more expensive than
the other ones but it’s a great guess
but realizes this in most areas the
United States is generally only one
place that makes gasoline and then
everybody else buys it from them puts
their color dye on you notice they’re
different colors well they’re only
different colors because they put a diet
they’d be clear or otherwise
and add their additive since shale oil
from what I know is the largest
distiller of gasoline in the world odd
times you’ll be using shale gas with
whatever additives the other companies
add regardless where you buy it so
really not matter United States where do
you buy your gases on you buy it from
some crappy old convenience store where
there’s an old tank that might have
water and rust inside it they’re all
pretty much the same you got a car needs
regular gas just behind the regular gas
you’re wasting your money if you buy
higher does gas
almost all made in one place and then
they put a different diet a little bit
package additive so they all work
perfectly fine penny Killman how do I
access TSB for my car mine’s a 2012
Camry 130,000 miles thanks use all data
it’s a data system and for the
do-it-yourselfers they have all data and it’s like 20-something bucks
it gives you all the information in
your car it’s a great thing to have but
if you want something free you can use
www car complaints comm then you click
the tab that says tsp then you get all
the TSB’s and they are very handy I
mean it’s a very handy thing to know
it shows all the tsb for your car cuz if
something I don’t comes up a lot of
times they’ll pick it up let’s face it
all machines are made by humans and
humans who made robots that make cars
so there’s flaws that just are gonna
show up in all budgets better know them
all then the gas when you got some kind
of an oddball problem the TSB is really
good for that
so if you never want to miss another one
of my new car repair videos, remember to
ring that Bell

  2. how does a man that makes 4 to 5 hundred thousand dollars a year not be able to afford a cadillac sts? dude even if that thing broke every week it would still be under 25k in like 5 years

  3. Ohh hey Scotty, I seen a video earlier where the parallel park assist failed on a ford car & smashed a new vette in the front end..your thoughts with ford's park assist? I don't think I'd trust those.

  4. Has a former aircraft/jet engine mechanic I was just curious. Do any of you car guys use torque wrenches when reassembling things?

  5. Thanks for the Video….. I can remember when the compressor started to make noise or the belt started squealing, you could just hop out, cut the belt and continue down the highway…..try doing that with the newer cars….Old People Be Grumpy….Hell ya when you hurt all the time……..

  6. Scotty, I think the cheapest way to get all the TSBs is the NHTSA website. It has most TSBs (at least for the Japanese cars I owned) available for download in PDF files without needing to pay them.

  7. Scotty I don’t own the car anymore but the biggest head scratcher I ever had was a car that would oscillate the idle speed from about 400rpm up to like 1200rpm every 3 sec or so with nothing on; but the second I put the AC on the idle would be smooth as silk at 750!! 15+ years later, think it was a valve like that or the compressor going bad? All these years & that’s one that haunts me that I never could really diagnose 😂

  8. CAR PROBLEMS!!!: I came to a complete stop the other night and felt a hard thud. When I went to go it would not budge. Only would go in reverse. Couple days later I can get it to move in drive but it periodically will "slip" where the RPMS climb but the car just isn't matching it.

2008 pontiac g6 gt 130,000 on it. No prior problems

  9. I’m gunna be honest I’ve seen way more Subaru’s over 200-300k than Toyota’s or hondas. I’ve rarely seen any Honda with mor than 220k but that’s from what I’ve seen

  10. You make a compelling case Scotty, but people will always be the most screwed up things that exist. oh wait Chryslers are a thing…

  11. Did your Celica get flooded? I could see the dirty water line above the door trim on your last video? (Changing your tire? You're doing it wrong).

  12. Exxon shell bp quick trip arco Chevron Costco citgo are a few top tier stations. I run shell and Exxon mostly occasionally bp and marathon. I have reward cards from each station so I can save at the pump.

  13. Alldata is nice but expensive Scotty it's like 1000$ for a day my school has is we all do with the computers next to the shop its nice doing AUTO TECH LOVE IT ND SOON MY CHANNEL 🙏😎

  14. Hey Scotty, I have an ‘08 Chevy Malibu. It has a 117k miles. It has the check engine light ON and autozone ran the test and the code says camshaft position sensor malfunction. I have replaced the sensor but the light is still ON and the test still says the same thing. Is the replacement sensor bad?

  15. Hey Mr. Scotty Kilmer I have been watching your videos since 2017, I have watched almost every one of your videos. It's because of your YouTube channel that I have started working on my own car. And finding my way around an engine has become a lot easier because of you sir. So thank you and I hope your channel keeps growing.

  16. I love the comment section and its anecdotal evidence. But Scotty!… Mine is just fine! Hahaha. Just because yours is fine doesnt mean there aren't any issues.

  17. 1:04 lmao 😂😭 why do Americans research cars proven to be most reliable then go buy the money pit anyways BYE

  18. winter is coming. Here in Wisconsin I go into work roads are clear, time to go home unexpected 3 foot snow drifts, and I like to say challenge accepted. Any vehicle suggestions.

  19. Sports cars up here in the Northwest are all waaaay overpriced. I've seen Syders with 145,000 sell for 6-8 grand. My 06 MK5 GTI with 115,000 cost me $5700. I know it falls apart quick with my track day affairs, but it's an amazingly fun car to drive. Take care of it and it won't fail easy. Don't and it'll fall apart and fail on you. Don't be discouraged though, I highly recommend a test drive at least, and maybe you'll fall in love like I did.

  20. Scotty I have an important question is there an actual permanent fix for a clunking slip yoke or do you have to grease it every time it makes a noise I know GM has the problem a lot but my f150 with 100k miles is doing it

  21. Scotty must have a strong awareness of the police state and new world order type agenda developing in America that George Carlin warned us about.
George Carlin talks about the real owners in America. Go watch and listen to "George Carlin real owners."

  22. Hey Scotty I got a question
So my 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5s runs good but there are some problems..the first main issue is that the AC works super good but when ever I use it and hit the brakes or use the brakes it makes this super high pitch squeak sound and when I pop the hood it shakes the belt and makes it a little loose but not dangerously loose. But I’ve been driving it forever and all summer and it’s a beast of a can I fix this at home before going to the mechanic

  23. scott i know you hate volvos but im driving a 05 volvo s40 its a daly driver iv hade to replace the alltonater but thats it its burning oil and it eats gas ive owend it for 3 years never had ane probs wit it i dont no why u hate volvos or have i just bein lucky whit this car or is it a peice of crap it got 345 thousend kil on it

  24. Scotty!!! I’m looking at a barn find!!! 1970 Oldsmobile 88 w/ Rocket 455… 53,714 miles original… automatic(not sure what)… one owner… $2,500… right down the road from me basically… what do you think????!!!!! Thanks 🙏

  25. Scotty for my first car I want to get a good sports car or good muscle car what do you recommend? I'm looking at a range of 35,000 or less

  26. $13K for a 3 year old Santa Fe and you say don't buy it?…come on Hyundais aren't THAT bad. You can't even get a 3-year-old Elantra for 13K

  27. hey scotty, is it better to put the accelerator pedal all the way down then let it all the way back up right before i start my car, my mom does it all the time and im wondering if theres some reason to do so

  28. Gotta disagree a little on this one. People are worse than cars. People lie, steal and chit and can't run down the road at 55 mph!!!! People are definitely worse than even a cheap car!😂😂😂😂😂😂

  29. This is why you don’t take advice about issues outside the scope of the persons expertise.
Scotty’s opinions on issues outside his background are as worthless as medical advice from a GED student!

  30. I love how when he talked about the guy switching from an STS to an Acura he showed a an Acura Tl 3 rd gen. Idk if thats what the guy got but it shows scotty knows everything. Even repping one of the best Acuras out there

  31. Recently purchased a 2008 Hyundai Tiburon 4 cylinder with 184,000 miles no check engine light ? Could you do a video on high mileage Hyundai’s and how to make them last ?

  32. Why aren't there auto shops in america where you can go and get fossil fuel combustible engine in your suv or car replaced with electric motor and batteries.

  33. My dad was a suicide hockey for 40 years,( He drove a gas tanker truck, 18wheeler). He delivered to this one place way out in nowhere, that got all 3 grades, but only one tank. My dad ask him how he separated the gas with just the one tank. The guy told him," With my pencil." and just smiled. Dad always said they were all three the same anyway,so it really didn't matter.😉

  34. Hello Scotty thank you for sharing your knowledge and valuable information. What do you think of a Honda Civic 2005 as a first car?

  35. The one belt cars like that and you are still driving the car thinking the AC compressor is going out? Okay, then. Better have a tow truck number stored in your phone. Best to schedule the loss of the car than the have it happen on the way to or from some place you were counting on getting to that day.
