DIY Car Repair Quick Tip #9: How to Prevent Losing Nuts and Bolts When Working on Your Car

I’ve been working on cars for over 50 years in those 50 years I’ve seen a lot of other people working on cars too and do you want to know that probably the number one problem I see when watching people work on their cars that haven’t had a lot of experience it’s losing the bolts or mixing all the bolts and the fasteners up and then they go back to put it back on they go what does this go here does that go there well let me just share with you a quick tip on how you can prevent this problem happening when you work on your car number one I have this really nice tray here that can sit in an engine compartment this can hold my tools because along with losing bolts and fasteners people lose tools down in the engine compartment but besides that I just love these magnetic trays look at that now that’s plastic but if you happen to bump the tray you’re not going to lose the bolts down in your engine compartment and the other thing is you could keep the bolts like this is for the left headlight this is for the right headlight you can separate them out in the positions which they go back on the car and these magnetic trays are available in a number of different sizes I have four or five of them stuck right to the side of my toolbox and anytime I’m working on a car this is the thing I grab first
