so we’re here at ink and iron automotive and here we specialize mostly in restoration work and custom paint but we also do all aspects of auto body repair so whether it’s minor dents scratches rust repair painting we do it all I’m Hilary Nowak I’m the owner here I do everything from dealing with customers to sweeping the floor to sanding cars to turning the lights off at the end of the day when I was 17 years old I bought myself a 1970 Oldsmobile and I really wanted to learn how to fix it up myself so I went down to the local body shop and I asked if I could do a co-op and they took me on as a co-op and I loved it so right from there I transitioned into my apprenticeship and I’ve been doing it ever since I would definitely encourage females to get into this trade I would just say you need to be really strong-willed and persistent because there’s always gonna be you know guys and girls who tell you that this isn’t a job for you you shouldn’t do it so I think if you have a passion and a drive for it then you’ll succeed my preference for what type of cars I would like to do would be definitely old cars so restorations I love custom work so it could be not necessarily just old but if it’s you know a new car that we’re changing the look or changing the appearance I really like that right now I have about six girls that are with me just on a part-time basis right now initially when we started this business and all the hype and the focus around it has been you know because we’re women and we’re doing something that you don’t traditionally see women doing but I think the focal point of our business and the reason that we’re going to last and we’re going to keep growing is because we do quality work and that’s really where the focus should be
