at the end of this lesson you will be able to insert place and edit canvases in fusion 360 you’ll be able to create energy sketches extrude them and mirror bodies now let’s bring the orthographic views generated in SketchBook Pro into fusion 360 you can use the ones you generated or the ones provided in this lesson to take a first stab at it notice how the images have been cropped so that there are no extra pixels beyond the dimensions of the vehicle to bring the images in click insert attached canvas and select the plane you want to place your view on then click the select image icon and select the side view although the canvas has emplaced it is too small in scale to use let’s use the controls to make it visible we have many options to control our canvas within the attached campus dialog box for now click on canvas opacity and adjust to about 40% and click on display through this will allow you to see bodies and sketches that are behind the canvases you insert to give the canvas the correct scale click the caret next to canvas on the feature tree to expand the menu right-click the canvas you just imported and choose calibrate select two points that represent a dimension you know in this case the size of the wheels would be about five hundred and ninety millimeters in order for the total length of the vehicle to be about 3.8 meters which is the length of an existing vehicle in this category after this repeat the steps to insert the table your canvas again click insert attached canvas select the plane in the image and scale it so it is usable notice how the image is flipped to place it correctly use a horizontal or vertical flip icons they’re also available in the attached canvas menu since wheels were used to give proportion to the vehicle we can calibrate using the same measurement after both canvases are calibrated to the same size use edit canvas to make the matches when you are done with this step repeat the steps for the front view at this moment these three views will do let’s work with the front and top views and turn off view front view now let’s create some reference wheel geometry to do this click sketch circle two-point circle and use a tool to create a circles that represent the front and the rear wheel of the vehicle then click create extra select both sketches and pull the arrow to obtain at our dimension that makes sense and looks credible since this is only reference geometry there is no need to be exact yet click modify chamfer and use the arrow to give a bit of shoulder to the tire apply this to both the front and rear tire select both bodies right-click and select move to place them where the tires should be click create mirror select both bodies and the corresponding plane to create geometry on the opposite side of the model we have now created a setup to serve as reference when created the cars body we are ready to begin shaping this vehicle
