Bedford Audi Apprenticeship Programme for Future Vehicle Technicians from Autotech Recruit

Bedford Audi Apprenticeship Programme for Future Vehicle Technicians from Autotech Recruit

Good afternoon and welcome to Autotech Recruit TV we here at a fabulous site
refurbish site of Bedford Audi. The main premise for today is to talk to you about the exciting
news that Vindis Motor Group and
especially Bedford Audi and Autotech
Recruit Limited are working together on
our brand new apprenticeship program.
Recently we have worked together in hiring two apprentices for the Vindis Motor group at Bedford Audi.
that are being supported by Autotech Recruit Limited.
We approached Vinds Motor Group
specifically Bedford Audi and approached
them about the opportunity regarding Autotech sponsoring two vehicle apprentices use for
the next 3 years. At Bedford Audi we are convinced that the use of
high quality apprenticeships is the way forward for our industry. Vehicle mechanics has made such
a pace over the last few years we are
struggling to find some issues with the
skill set to be able to maintain and
repair the vehicles that we sell.
When Autotech approached us about offering support for apprenticeship program it
was very clear that they share our
vision in recruiting the right people
and training skills to be able to have a
sustainable business moving forward.
With Lee and Jay now on board we have two
individuals that we can invest time into
train their specific skills that will fit
our business specifically.
Before working at Bedford Audi I was working full time at McDonalds
having just left education and I’m really
grateful for the fact that Vindis Group and
Autotech gave me this opportunity. What attracted me to the apprenticeship at Bedford Audi was that I’ve
always been interested in motor cycles and cars and this was my opportunity to get into it. The highlight of my
first 6 weeks was at Bedford Audi where I got to meet my mentor and the rest of the team have been really
supportive and i got to go to head office and meet everyone behind the apprenticeship scheme.
Before Bedford Audi I worked as a Know
How technician at PC World. What attracted me to the
apprenticeship scheme was working in a professional environment as well as learning on the go. The proccess
for joining the team at Bedford Audi was a series of interviews, the first being with Gavin from Autotech and
Richard Hillier from Bedford Audi. Myself and Lee were 2 successful candidates for the apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships offer a great solution to the skills shortage in the UK as a whole, but specifically in
the automotive industry the moment. As a
recruitment agency it’s great news to see
the automotive industry coming back to its best. Last year alone 27,000 new vacancies were created
within UK retail sector in the automotive industry. The worrying point was many of these
positions were going unfilled. So for Vindis Motor Group and Autotech Recruit, taking on a
project like this we knew this was going
to be a race it’s not anything we’d
heard of before and ultimately we see it
as an opportunity to break new territory
and seriously hope that more people
within the industry look at projects
like this
see where that can really benefit their
business and individuals that work for
their businesses moving forward. We’ve had a fantastic afternoon here
meeting the technicians and seeing the
great work they are doing and the support
that they are getting from Vindis Motor Group. Please stay tuned in the future, we’ll have more
exciting TV clips and programs
coming up in the future and
some of the great project and work we intend to do through 2016.
