>>STUDENT: Like a lot of people, I grew up
doing work on cars. I was in a different job
field, but thinking about going back to school.
When I took a closer look at Lane’s Automotive
Technology program, it just felt right.
Now I’m learning valuable skills and achieving
my dream: To land a good job and eventually
own my own custom shop.
>>ANNC: Are you mechanically inclined? Like
working with your hands?
Our Automotive Technology graduates get jobs
at dealerships, repair shops and lube stations
— most right here in Western Oregon.
This is a career for problem-solvers. You’ll
use advanced diagnostic tools and equipment
as you work in teams to repair all sorts of
vehicles.
You’ll use your basic math skills to work
out gear ratios and engine displacement, or
convert between standard and metric measurements.
And you can run some realistic simulations
in our computer lab as you learn about electrical,
engine, transmission and other systems.
Once you successfully complete your AS E tests,
you’re ready to be an entry-level technician
and work your way up.
>>STUDENT: I was looking for a job in the
automotive industry and needed more knowledge.
I heard Lane had a good program. Now I’m getting
training and experience that opens doors for
opportunities.
>>STUDENT: If there’s something you’re
serious about, go ahead and do it. If you
have a passion for this, there’s a lot to
learn. I learn things every day. And there’s
room for growth.
