Automotive engineers | A day in the life at Johnson Controls

when I moved to Michigan I’d never skated before in my life now I play a couple times a week I grew up in Australia so it’s not a lot of ice I’m a product engineer for floor consoles I wiped abuzz she also works here at Johnson Controls she sits a couple hundred yards away from me across pads every now and then and I’m more creative he’s more technical so right now this is our armrest assembly for the floor console that we’re designing they sketch it out and make sure it fits the theme of the vehicle we want it to look like this nobody’s got to make sure it works what we try to replicate is that consumer it’s wearing that material how you can keep changing things and moving things around until you feel confident Rob is very literal for cooking for instance he follows a recipe and I’m like we’re resident engineer works on current production and the challenge of my job is to be able to multi tell I need to come up with a better clip so that these don’t cause the door to rattle I will do model.we enhancements will do castes where we’re looking at way to design it and cost less but still look I’m designing these things from scratch what do you design a console and you spend two years with something I mean you did you know every little detail about it you know why every single thing was done why every little Rivers it’s the people that get promoted here are team players that’s the kind of people they want here in leadership I’m very appreciative for just how good this company has been in the three kids they’re everything that it provides in my family it’s always something going on with but that’s kind of the flexibility that we have with a job so here you know this has become home for me so I’m not going anywhere you [Music]
