Automotive Careers – Paint Technician

on Jones paint technician here at Marshall motor group I left school at 16 at that time there were warty s training schemes which I’ve ended up doing I liked cars so I started up in restoration work pre-war restoration work from there I went into their main dealers and from then on I’ve just sort of gone from one or two body shops locally nowadays a time to change such a lot more basic training as progressed done now you can get un v qu qualifications and to cap it up you get the ATA assessment thanks brain and what it entails it isn’t just painting it’s or I call it refinishing it’s trying to get the car the damaged car back to its original state if a car comes to me after the panel beater to finish with it I then apply the right tanks as the paint manufacturers specify up to warranty standards so you have to use an edge product which is a key element of primer and undercoat and then you apply the top coat and but finally polish in the pool there was quite a lot to learn to be honest in the trailer and yeah you do have to realize what products to use on aluminium against steel against plastics so there are lots of different processes but you get if you get the right training again the company always supply and the paint manufacturers are pretty good as well as well as college courses I think the qualities you’d need to be a painter is I think you do need to have a lot of pride in your work people call me too fussy but I don’t think you can be too because you must treat every every car as if it if you are you
