Automotive Careers – Master Technician

my name’s Paul Chavez I work at a BMW dealership in Stevenage and my role is an austerity it all started about fourteen years ago when I left school I wasn’t sure really what to do I always been passionate about cars and loved cars so it seemed the right thing to do at the time I went to a local college and got on so well and got some really good marks and really enjoyed it decided that’s that was for me I applied for apprenticeship at the local BMW dealer which is where I am now and worked my way through senior to master level Master Technicians role is motivating the team helping people and when quite merrily it’s a diagnostic technician for there’s loads of other roles customer facing dealing with customer problems mentoring but apprentices trying to get them through the same same scheme and just passing on your knowledge to other people in the workshop things have changed over the 14 years I’ve been in the motor industry a lot of customers say that when they come into workshop is very clinical it’s more computer now based Sat Navs telephones all that kind of stuff that we need to to learn about and do so although there is the dirty work that a lot of it now is changing towards the technical and electronic side of it doctors learn a human body and they go and they were that training but a human body doesn’t change that map hasn’t changed that much obviously and but a new model that comes out with new technology it’s completely different and not only do we have to learn about a new stuff but we still have to remember the cars that still twenty years old for example if you ask me what could I see myself doing in a few years time then I’d like to do a bit of training maybe at the manufacturers training school and go that route and train apprentices you
