– There we go.
-(Josh) In our Capstone class,
there’s a pre requirement to get in there.
Our Auto Tech One,
and the students learn 32 hands on tasks.
Anything from changing windshield wipers,
tire rotations, oil changes.
We really focus on safety,
because it can be a dangerous facility.
And then in the Auto Two class,
the students are required
to perform those tasks
on the vehicles,
and we get much further into the
diagnostic portion of our vehicles.
-(Deakin) The stuff that we do here in class,
even though it’s just a high school shop,
it’s a lot like what happens say at,
say at Chevy or Ford,
because we got to take a tour of
their shops before,
and they’re just a little bigger scale,
that’s all.
A little bit more experienced technicians.
But, other than that,
it’s almost identical of what goes on.
-(Josh) Alright you guys,
check this out.
We’re are 85% right now.
I think our automotive program is
truly state of the art.
The skills that these
students are learning
are gonna help get them
ready for the world of work.
Whether they go straight into industry,
or if they go on to a two
year technical college.
Upon graduation from our program,
students not only earn two college credits
through NTC over in Wausau,
but they also earn some industry
recognized certificates.
They’re gonna walk out of here with
a safety certificate called SP2.
And also a digital multi
meter certification
through Snap On and a
partnership with NC3.
-(Deakin) It’s been a blast.
I mean, all four years here
with Mr. Zalewski was a good time.
Learned something new every year,
something that you think
you won’t even learn about.
